Stress is one of the major factors that can affect our health and well-being. Therefore, it’s important to incorporate stress-relieving activities into our daily lives.
One of my favourite ways of reducing stress is by having a spa day. However, as much as I’d love to visit my local health spa, it can become a pretty expensive hobby! This is why a DIY spa day at home is such a great idea. DIY spa treatments work out a lot cheaper than store-bought products and don’t have any of the sketchy ingredients such as parabens, sulphates and other chemicals!
What do You Need to Have a Spa Day at Home
So, what do you need to have a spa day at home?
Apart from the ingredients for some spa treatments, you don’t need much to have a spa day at home. However, ensuring you have your favourite fluffy dressing gown, some towels, hair wrap, a relaxing playlist and some scented candles can make the day feel more relaxed.
Make Time for a Spa Day at Home
When arranging a spa day at home, it’s important to allocate some alone time. Alone time allows the mind, body, and soul to fully decompress and de-stress!
If you have children at home, arrange for them to spend some time with friends or family. You could even send your other half off to their mates. Even if you can only get an hour or two to yourself, you can still have a wonderful mini-pampering session.
How to Create the Right Ambience
To make the most of your DIY spa day at home, it’s important to create the right ambience. Unplug from social media, put your mobile phone on silent, dim the lights, light some candles and put on some relaxing music.
You could also make a refreshing drink, fruit platter, or healthy snacks to nibble on. If you are having some friends over for a group spa day, then why not add some fizz with your favourite Prosecco? Having some ice-cold water to hand is also a great way to stay hydrated, especially if you are having a hot bath.
